It is steeped in college football history with two respected universities that are powerhouses every year. Any change in the venue would be devastating to both universities, it's alumni and college football. It's almost like any other rivalry game then. Personally I think the game ought to be played at the new Cowboys' stadium. Still a neutral site, still in DFW, and still 50/50 in the crowd. To me being at the state fair doesn't add much to the game so while losing the tradition sucks it wouldn't take anything away from the game for me. Home and home would completely change the game. It’s almost like any other rivalry game then.
