He may have gone undrafted but former Texas defensive tackle is quickly making a name for himself in Kansas City. From the Orangebloods’ message boards copied from a Chiefs’ board:

DT Derek Lokey - If you listened to our most recent Podcast with Chuck Cook, you know why he and the defensive coaches are high on Lokey. He’s already in the mix as one of the team’s four best interior defensive linemen. Ron Edwards and Glenn Dorsey are the starters, so that means Lokey will line up next to Tank Tyler. After watching him today, I can’t believe he wasn’t drafted.

I’m not surprised. Lokey was one of my favorite Longhorns the last few years. He wasn’t devoid of talent, but he sure did an incredible job with fewer measurables than some of his teammates. He may never be an NFL star but I think he could be headed to a long and successful career.
