Bevo Sports is nominated for the Brady Quinn AwardI don’t know if we should be honored or offended but Bevo Sports is a nominee for the College Football Blogger Awards. The site is one of five finalists for the Brady Quinn Award for “the prettiest blog, the best layout and design.” The winning blog must have “an aesthetic appeal, whether from a stylish banner, a pleasing layout, or an eye-catching incorporation of blog technology.”

Here’s the other nominees:

We all know how much we love Notre Dame around here but this is quite the honor. Matt and I put a lot of time and effort into the site and it’s nice that somebody out there likes what we’re doing.

Hopefully this isn’t a case of style over substance, we do try to provide quality content but we can’t help it that we’re so darn pretty.

And you probably thought the Aggie BCS rap was the worst rap that you ever heard. Think again my friends, think again.

Sleepy Rappers featuring MC Snorz and DJ Snooz give you this absolutely hilarious rap, titled “Franklin (County)”. It is hard to watch it all, but you should get the idea after the first minute or so.

Ohio State University can’t be too happy to have this video “reppin” their school.

Team Baby LonghornsHave a toddler around the house and tired of watching The Wiggles? Ever babysit for an Aggie friend and feel sorry for their child? Entertain your tyke and create future Longhorns using Team Baby Entertainment’s DVD’s to brainwash introduce them to the Texas Longhorns.

Team Baby Entertainment titles allows parents, grandparents, alumni and friends to share their love, loyalty and passion for their university with their children. Our videos provide an informative, entertaining and educational way to introduce your child to the university and team you root for.

Each DVD is customized for a specific university and uses officially licensed footage of the university’s team sports, mascot, marching band, campus attractions and more to expose children to the university in an exciting and playful manner.

Videos also feature the music of the school’s marching band as well as original “Team Baby” footage of children enjoying the sites and sounds of the university you love.

The videos are about 30 minutes in length and sell for twenty dollars. Based on the preview video it mainly consists of baby-friendly inspirational/sports/team music playing over video of kids happily wearing Longhorn garb. There’s also clips of the football team and band interspersed, but I’m not sure how much based on the preview. Pretty cool idea, especially as a gift, but the price seems a little steep for only 30 minutes of entertainment. I think I’ll just force my future offspring to watch the Rose Bowl over and over again with me.

Hook 'EmFound a great photo on Flickr of just one more example that the Texas Longhorns have gone national and are headed towards world domination. Some hoodlum put tape over the middle fingers and the thumb of the crosswalk stop hand and now everyone who comes to that New York City intersection has to “Hook ‘em Horns” before they proceed.

Okay, okay, I’m sure it’s probably just a sign of the devil but it’s still pretty cool.

Any Flickr users and UT fans should join the University of Texas group. Not a huge group (yet) but there’s some really fantastic photgraphers sharing their UT-related photos.

Definitely a little cruel, some Cal students pretending to be a UCLA co-ed on instant messenger get USC point guard Gabe Pruitt’s phone number and set up a date for after the game. The best part may be that they reveal the prank to him while he’s at the free throw line:

When USC guard Gabe Pruitt took his first trip to the free throw line early in the game, the Cal student section hollered in unison: “VIC-TOR-IA, VIC-TOR-IA,” and then yelled out a telephone number. Pruitt glanced back at the crowd in horror and bewilderment before clanking his free throws.

It turns out that a couple of mischeivous little bastards from the Cal student section had been IM’ing with Pruitt all week under the identity of “Victoria,” a fictional UCLA hottie, and Pruitt was eagerly anticipating a date with this nubile co-ed back in Westwood after the game. In preparation for the date, Pruitt had handed over his digits, which the Cal student section recited back to him in unison.

Ouch.

Sure am glad I didn’t actually try to watch this whole thing. Longhorns were only on for about a minute, but still some good PR for the Horns with the female/unemployed market segment. A little bit of video of Matthew McConaughey and the team before the Rose Bowl and celebrating the win, and then some short stuff from Mack Brown, Rashad Bobino, and Limas Sweed. Bobino seems like a fun kid.

Video including Craig Way saying “the Texas Longhorns are college football’s national champions” in front of ten million television viewers is below.

Longhorn Special Edition H2 HummerSewell Hummer in Plano, TX is releasing their 2006 Hummer H2 Longhorn Special Edition. Now this could possibly be one of the more gaudy cars I have ever seen, but isn’t it just beautiful? I personally would probably not drive one, but I am sure that they have already received a few orders for the car.

Also, I am pretty curious as to what the price will be for this “Special Edition.” My guess is around $80,000. What do you guys/girls think?

Update

You can also get a Longhorn edition Hummer H3. It looks even uglier and doesn’t have the longhorn on the front grill, which I think is the coolest part of the H2.
