The Texas baseball team provided us with two straight nights of heartstopping baseball and again on Sunday night they pulled out the victory. This time it only took 9 innings, but the Longhorns had to come back from 4 runs down in the bottom of the 9th inning to beat Army and close out the Austin Regional.
Down 10-6 to start the half inning Texas rallied to tie it at 10 off a nearly gamewinning walk-off grand slam Brandon Loy. A few batters later with the game still tied, Preston Clark only need to put the ball in play to win but instead put the ball over the left field wall. Clark’s walk-off slam gave the Longhorns the 14-10 and ended the regional tournament with the hosts on top.
There are no dates or times available yet, but next up Texas will host the TCU Horned Frogs in Austin for the best-of-three Super Regional.

- Back to back for Army. A DEEEEEEP homer over centerfield wall stretches lead a little more. Now it’s Army 10, #UT 6
- Army matches #UT homer with a 2 run shot of their own in the top of the 8th. Lead back to 3 for Army.
- Grounder to 3rd ends the inning. #UT gets the 2 runs from Keyes homer but squanders chance for more. Texas trails Army 7-6 going to 8th
- If you’re bunting with 2 strikes with the intent to sacrifice give yourself up. Stay in the freaking box and get the bunt down. #UT
- Kevin Keyes hits a long home run to cut the Army lead to 1 run. Score now 7-6, still no outs in the bottom of the 7th for #UT.
- Triple followed by single up the middle gets Army another run. #UT now trails 7-4
- Ahhhhhhh! Belt hits a deep one to right but Army RF catches it slamming into the wall for the final out of the 6th inning. #UT trails 6-4
- Bases load and 2 outs again for #UT. Let’s hope they can capitalize this time and Brandon Belt comes through.
