Probably my favorite press conference every year, Texas head coach is finally able to talk about the incoming recruits and sits down and goes over film of each one of them. Great to hear him talk about the entire incoming class and about the strengths of each player. Definitely worth your time to watch the entire thing:
Some great photos of the future Longhorns making their college choice official yesterday. The photos of Taylor Bible from Inside Texas are awesome. His choice of a Texas fishing/hunting choice is perfect if you heard how country he is during Under Armour game interviews. Check out a selection of the photos below:
Be sure to head over to Inside Texas, Statesman.com, and DallasNews.com for more photos of these recruits and all the future Horns.
The first Wednesday of every February is the big one for recruitniks. is the first day high school seniors can sign their National Letter of Intent to play college football. A Letter of Intent is a binding agreement between a player and a school so more changing their mind or flip flopping after their name is on the paper.
The Texas Longhorns don’t expect any big news, they got their big fish last Friday, but this is the day when the members of the Horns’ fantastic 2010 recruiting class can make it truly official. Three players are already enrolled and on campus, so 25 22 young men will be faxing in their letters today.
We’ll have updates throughout the day as the letters come in on Twitter at @40AcresSports and here on this page. Most of the action should take place in the morning so stay tuned.
Confirmed* Letters of Intent
- (first one in at 6am)
- (this one had me a little nervous after weekend rumors)
- (after how long it took to bring him in over OU, glad he was in early)
- (last one is in!)

Small town running back Traylon Shead will get a chance to show his skills to the nation. (Image: Rivals)
The second big high school all-American game of the year happens this Saturday at noon when at least six future Horns take part in the US Army All-American Bowl on NBC. No expected new commits for Texas at the game but it will be a chance for fans to see a bunch of future Longhorns compete against top notch talent.
The most interesting commits to watch may be quarterback and running back . In these wide open all-star games QB and RB are two of the spots where you get the best reflection of what a player is actually capable of. Shead is one of the most prolific prep running backs in the history of Texas high school football and today will be a great chance to see what the stud from tiny Cayuga can do against the country’s best.
On the defensive side of the ball watch for defensive end and linebacker . Both players are incredible athletes who can fly around the football field. With the pass happy game plans it should mean lots of chances for Wilson to get after the quarterback.

Haltom City defensive end is the latest 2010 recruit to add his name to one of the most impressive recruiting classes in recent memory, and he may also be the most exciting. He’s only been playing football for a few years but he’s already a dynamic pass-rushing end who strikes fear in opposing quarterbacks. Check out some of his highlights below to learn exactly why you probably don’t want to be a Big 12 QB for the next few years:
Mack Brown’s 2010 Texas football recruiting class just keeps getting better. Top defensive end made a surprise visit to Austin Thursday and yesterday word trickled out that Wilson had committed to the Longhorns. He is the 21st commit for the 2010 class.
Wilson is a 6-foot-4, 240 pound pass rushing defensive end from Haltom City, TX. He hasn’t been around football his entire life but he is an incredible talent with one of the biggest upsides in the entire country. He is one of the top players in the entire state, ranked number 4 in the LSR and number 1 by Inside Texas. He has a very good chance to end the season as a 5-star recruit if he puts up a strong senior season.
Wilson’s personal story is an incredible one, an excerpt from InsideTexas.com:
Wilson’s parents fled Liberia at the start of the country’s Civil War while Reggie’s mother was pregnant with him. The family moved to The Ivory Coast to a compound where Reggie’s parents cared for their seven children and other children that had were affected by the war.
When Reggie was seven, his parents, amid financial difficulties, moved to the United States with the hopes of making a better life for their children. Needing the older children to stay and take care of the younger children that could otherwise not take care of themselves, seven year old Reggie Wilson lived without his parents on the Ivory Coast for three years.
When Wilson was 10 his parents had saved enough money to bring him to the United States and after a short stay in New York with some relatives, Reggie was reunited with his parents in Fort Worth.
Congrats to Reggie and welcome to the 40 Acres. Make sure to check out all the commits and stay tuned to the site for all the latest recruiting news.
