After several weather-related setbacks last summer, it looks like construction on Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium is now moving along nicely. Simkins over at HornFans has posted a ton of great photos that show the changes up close. The seating area in the North end zone looks almost done but the outside and innards of the stadium definitely still have a long way to go.
Former Longhorn [tag]Aaron Ross[/tag] has had quite the last three years. First he wins a national championship with Texas, then named the Thorpe Award winner in 2006, he got engaged to the fastest woman on the planet in 2007, and now he starts 2008 off by adding a Super Bowl ring to his collection.
Ross played well Sunday night and helped the excellent New York Giants’ defense contain the Tom Brady, Randy Moss, and the rest of the New England Patriots. He did well in coverage mostly in the slot and was credited with two tackles. Because of Ross and my hatred for the Patriots, I actually found myself rooting pretty hard for the Giants during the game.
Congrats to Aaron and the Giants.
Bobby Knight resigns from Texas Tech. Didn’t see that coming, I wonder how long Pat Knight will last.
Longhorns’ new phenom: Filling up Erwin Center. Great to see, Coach Barnes and this team deserve a full house.

Dirty programs like Colorado and Miami mean tighter recruiting restrictions on everyone. It’s now Chili’s instead of Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse.
The book on LaMarcus Aldridge. Compares to Jack Sikma? Who the heck is that?
Central Texas’ soon-to-be Longhorns. Pretty good crop of local kids in this year’s class.
Phillip Geiggar drafted by Texas in inaugural AAFL Draft. Lots of Aggies but Geiggar was only Longhorn in the draft.
