According to a San Antonio Express-News source, Vince Young has “emphatically” informed the UT coaching staff he plans to return for his senior season.
Everything I’m hearing from everyone who might know has said pretty much the same thing. Vince and his family want him to get his degree and I believe Vince feels a sense of loyalty to Mack Brown and the team. I’m sure he is well aware of the difficult situation the team would be left in if he was to enter the NFL draft after this season, and he also probably knows that if he wants to be an NFL quarterback he needs another year in college. Though he’s finally getting the national love he deserves, there are still a lot of anonymous NFL “scouts” who have doubts about his future at QB.
His stock is sky high right now as an NFL player, but I think there are enough people/things telling him to come back for one more year that Texas fans will be very happy when he announces his decision in January.
In what is shaping up to be a monumental recruiting class, the Texas basketball team can now add top national point guard DJ Augustin to the list of commits. The 5’11” Augustin out of Houston, displaced from New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina, is 2006’s sixth commit and chose Texas over LSU.
