Figured I would start this so other people could share their stories of not being able to get tickets either through the school or that joke of a TicketMaster release. I am sure I was with you and every other Texas/USC fan trying to buy 2 tickets out of a ridiculous allotment of 1,000 tickets from TicketMaster this morning at 10:00am. Is it just me or was it depressing how quickly those tickets sold?

So, I felt that I needed to secure tickets no matter what, especially because I have already setup my trip to Vegas and drive down to Pasadena. So what do I do? I check eBay of course. Hmm…$1000/ticket. Later. So I check Razor Gator. $637/ticket. Do-able, but it comes out to $700/ticket once you add all of their fees. So that is what we ended up doing. We got 6 tickets at $700/piece. Man, that sucks. But you gotta do what you gotta do.

So what happened with your ticket attempts?

Check this out, the Rose Bowl itself is essentially scalping tickets to the game:

The Tournament of Roses, which is prevented from selling tickets beyond the $175 face value, has entered into an agreement with PrimeSport, a subsidiary of RazorGator Interactive Group, which will resell the tickets as part of travel packages that start at $1,879 per person.

The packages include two night stays at a hotel, a ticket in an end zone and ground transportation.

RazorGator is also a sponsor of the Rose Bowl. Dorger declined to reveal specifics of the financial agreements.

And this too (which I linked too and should have bid on 6 weeks ago):

The Tournament of Roses also allocated 2,500 tickets to The Ticket Reserve, which sold options to the big game. A Longhorn or Trojan who bought early could get away with paying as little as $100 above the regular ticket price.

“We had the tickets available, and it was a way to increase revenues for the game,” Dorger said. “It was also an opportunity … to give people who would not ordinarily have a chance to buy a ticket that opportunity.”
