The Wizard of Odds has up some videos and a poll on this year’s worst cheap shots. Right now our good friend Kellen Heard is running away with the voting but the best part is the Aggies defending him and everyone else mocking how stupid they sound.
I voted for Heard but the play by Iowa’s Mitch King where he rips off an Ohio State player’s helmet and then gives him a fist to the face is a very close second:
Go check out the plays and vote for yourself.

What are your thoughts on Shannon staying in Miami?
Who’s the next likely candidate for yall’s DC?

I was hoping for Shannon, but there are plenty of other good DCs out there. The next likely guy is a Longhorn himself, Jerry Gray.
He is a former All-American at safety, which is good since we need so much help in the secondary.

I actually preferred Alabama’s Joe Kines so this isn’t a big loss for me. With WVU’s Rodriguez getting the job at Bama I think that’s a good sign for us on Kines.
I’d love to have a young, passionate guy who can coach and recruit but those guys also don’t stick around a long time. I think Matt or I will do a post on Kines, Tenuda, and Van Gorder sometime soon.

Oh good call Matt on Gray, I completely forgot about him. He’s pretty much the exact opposite of Chizik, lots of different defensive sets and doesn’t just sit in base defense all the time. Plus he’s a candidate for the future Texas head coach position whenever Mack decides to hang them up.
If we go with Gray though we’ll need to hire a linebackers coach and Akina may be gone (and despite our play there this year I like Akina).

Jerry Gray is the man. I have his autograph somewhere. Met him once at a UT basketball camp.

Surprise surprise, the majority of the late hits are thugs from the state of Texas.

Im glad Mccoy took some cheap shots, maybe he will be careful the next time he is on his high horse. Is there anyway we can clone Vince Young?

What in the world are you talking about Brady? High horse? Um…
There’s no way in hell you can actually be a Longhorn fan, or else you may be the dumbest one I’ve ever met.

Hey Brian, I was out of line for the “high horse” statement. I am having a difficult time with Vince Young withdrawl. Still it’s not a good excuse for belittleing Colt Mccoy. Colt is a great QB, but I suspect the next 20 Texas QB’s or so will have a difficult time getting out of Vince’s shadow.
