Top Uniforms: #1 Texas

1. Texas Longhorns

Not a shocking number one choice from a Texas Longhorns website but the Longhorns have the best overall uniforms in college football by a mile. They are Sports Illustrated’s favorite and of course ours too.

Burnt orange is unique, you’re not going to find another team in the country wearing that color. The longhorn logo on the helmet is the best and most recognizable icon in college sports. It is a perfect representation of the university and the state.

The home uniforms with the burnt orange jersey are great but the all white road unis are classic, simple, and perfect. When Texas in their road whites faced off against Michigan in their home blue uniforms in the 2005 Rose Bowl it was as good as it gets. I’m going to go watch that game on DVD now. Hook ’em!

As an ’86 graduate of UT, I concur that we have the best uniforms. However, two other major universities use burnt orange in their uniforms: Auburn and Virginia Tech.

As far as classic, simple and perfect uniforms, the players names should be removed from the jerseys – a la Penn State.

    Fight On!

Can you say Boring! The all white is just like PSU without the style. YAWN.

I love the University of Oklahoma

How can a uniform with really no creative design at all with a basic color pattern be considered the best looking uniform in college football?? I mean seriously. I think Texas Tech has the best looking uniforms out of the entire state of Texas, but of course this is a Texas Longhorns site so I expect all of you to be a little bias. If you think about it, OU’s and Texas’ uniforms relate to each other pretty close but they obviously have different color schemes. But oh well. Texas sucks! BOOMER SOONER! God bless our troops!

    Texas Tech? Seriously? Ew.

@Kane: Both Virginia Tech and Auburn do label their color as “burnt orange” but it’s much closer to Tennessee’s orange than Texas orange.

Florida State is too flashy. Penn State should be on your list.

Worst uniforms = either of the Oregon schools.

Homer ALERT!!! I like Texas’ home uni’s more than the Whites.

I’d agree, PSU and I’d even throw ‘Bama in. Then again, it’s a Top 5 list. If both were missing in a T10, it would be a bad call.

Our uniforms are not even close to being the best they are so plain and old fashioned. Oh, and does anyone know if our stadium will be renovated on the new game?

ok I take back what I said in the above comment about our uniforms , they are not completely boring I like our burnt orange tops, but I just which we had an alternate black uniform. And they need to upgrade them a little bit. I liked the all white look we had when we played Nebraska two years ago at their place, but our uniforms need something else to them.

    WTF

Texas has great uniforms, but not the best, especially not “by a mile”, very homer choice.

According to ESPN’s fan voted uniform tournament, the University of Michigan football uniforms were voted the best, not just in college football, but in all of North American sports. (originally the Denver Broncos won, but it was found out that over 30,000 of the votes were from one IP address, when stricken Michigan had the lead, and thus the win)

A little hyperbole on my part with the “by a mile” but they’re certainly the best in many people’s opinions. I love Michigan’s unis as well though, I think Texas and UM should be 1 and 2 on everybody’s lists.

    Go ME

I don’t know about the UT loge being most reconizable icon in college sports. I would put Michigans helmet itself ahead of the UT logo (not to mention being voted time and time again the best helmet in football). Also the Georgia G is up there. If it came to a toss up between UT and U of M for best uniform I would take U of M for the Helmet and history.

I know the jersey is made by Nike, but are the pants non-production? Cannot seem to find them anywhere.

@Tom: Pants are definitely Nike as well but I’ve never seen them in stores. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen any team-branded football pants anywhere.
