YouTube history of the 2002 and 2005 Texas baseball title winners. Quintanilla’s play against Rice was amazing and clutch.

He may have gone undrafted but former Texas defensive tackle [tag]Derek Lokey[/tag] is quickly making a name for himself in Kansas City. From the Orangebloods’ message boards copied from a Chiefs’ board:
DT Derek Lokey – If you listened to our most recent Podcast with Chuck Cook, you know why he and the defensive coaches are high on Lokey. He’s already in the mix as one of the team’s four best interior defensive linemen. Ron Edwards and Glenn Dorsey are the starters, so that means Lokey will line up next to Tank Tyler. After watching him today, I can’t believe he wasn’t drafted.
I’m not surprised. Lokey was one of my favorite Longhorns the last few years. He wasn’t devoid of talent, but he sure did an incredible job with fewer measurables than some of his teammates. He may never be an NFL star but I think he could be headed to a long and successful career.
Soon after the Longhorns took the championship trophy off the field in Oklahoma City the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship All-Tournament Team was announced. Three Texas players were named to the team and first baseman [tag]Brandon Belt[/tag] was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. Belt hit .588 with two doubles, one home run and 10 RBI in four games.

The Texas baseball team finished the job Sunday with a 15-7 win over [tag]Kansas State[/tag] in the Big 12 Baseball Championships. The victory gives the Longhorns their third Big 12 tournament championship, second only to Nebraska since the conference was formed.
The wind was blowing out and the ball was jumping off the Texas bats all game long. Just like on Saturday against OU the team jumped out to an early lead and then had to hold on tight as things got crazy in the middle innings. Texas had a 9-1 lead but gave up 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th to make things interesting. The Horns didn’t panic and answered back right away by putting 3 up on the scoreboard in the 6th. They added 3 more in the 8th to make things comfortable.
The team will find out where they’re going and who they’re playing Monday morning when the NCAA announces tournament pairings.

Once up by 5 runs, the Longhorns had to score 3 in the last frame to win 11-10. Shortstop [tag]David Hernandez[/tag] singled up the middle to score [tag]Brandon Belt[/tag] and win the game.
