Cat Osterman

Under Armour has up a Cat Osterman commercial for their softball line. You can even download it and save it for your iPod. I’m not sure how new this is, but I hadn’t seen it before.

Cat doesn’t have any lines and the commercial is pretty short, but it does a good job of making her and softball look pretty cool. I wish she’d have yelled “We must protect this house!” at the end and then maybe tackled someone. Or at least pegged somebody with a softball. That would have been even better. (via)

An oldie but goodie from YouTube this morning. Texas wide receiver Johnny Walker absolutely waylays an [tag]Oklahoma[/tag] defensive back with a crushing block in the 1988 Red River Shootout. Check out the video:

Ouch.

A couple of the other OU defenders seeing it coming but the player on the receiving end of the hit was completely blindsided. You’ve got to keep your head on a swivel man. (via)

TJ Ford hurt in playoff game against New Jersey NetsFormer Longhorn TJ Ford went down with a neck/back injury in tonight’s Raptors’ playoff game:

Toronto Raptors point guard T.J. Ford was admitted to a Toronto hospital Tuesday after leaving an Eastern Conference playoff game against the New Jersey Nets with what team officials said was a “stinger.”

Ford left Game 5 of the quarter-final series with 29.7 seconds left in the first quarter after former Raptor Vince Carter fell on top of him in a scramble for the ball. He lay face down on the floor for a couple of minutes before being helped to his feet.

Raptors officials said he was taken to hospital to undergo precautionary tests.

Ford was born with spinal stenosis (narrowing of spaces in the spine that results in pressure on the spinal cord and on nerve roots) and missed all of the 2004-05 due to a back injury. Hopefully this really was just precautionary and T.J. makes a quick recovery.

Update: TJ was in good enough condition that he was able to return to the team bench before the end of the game. No status update for Friday’s game yet.

It’s still early in the NFL Draft and lots of college superstars are finding out which mediocre NFL team they’ll have to spend at least four or five years with, but for Texas fans the only interesting thing so far has been the debut of the new [tag]Vince Young[/tag] commercial for Madden 08:

Decent commercial but not too exciting and no video of the game. EA hasn’t shown any actual gameplay footage at the draft the last few years so we’ll likely have to wait to learn more about the game in the coming weeks.
