Texas head coach [tag]Mack Brown[/tag] was on ESPN SportsCenter this weekend talking about preseason rankings, expectations, going undefeated, and of course the [tag]BCS[/tag]. Watch:
It’s that time of year again, EA Sports’ NCAA Football 10 hits stores this week and college football fans everywhere will finally be getting their yearly fix. Finally some digital football to distract us from our lives and families before the real thing gets here in mid-August!
It looks like the game is another evolution from previous years’ games and not a revolution, but the new features including online dynasty mode and TeamBuilder seem aimed right at the diehard college football fan that reads this site. Check out the video review from IGN below:
Former Longhorn and current Houston Texan defensive tackle [tag]Frank Okam[/tag] talks about losing weight, showing a commitment to football, and what he could do on the field in 2009:
Former Texas quarterback [tag]Vince Young[/tag] lost a mentor and hero when former Titans’ star Steve McNair was murdered last week. Yesterday Vince spoke briefly at McNair’s funeral service and he had trouble keeping his emotions in check. With tears in his eyes Young said, “Steve was like a hero to me, and heroes are not supposed to die.”
Our thoughts go out to McNair’s family and friends.
Former Texas quarterback [tag]Vince Young[/tag] has struggled on and particularly off the field since the beginning of the 2008 season. Within about 24 hours he struggled in the season opener, got hurt, lost his starting job with the Tennessee Titans to (the mediocre) Kerry Collins, and then things escalated to the point where Nashville police were looking for him worried for his safety. Lately Vince has given a few radio interviews where he hasn’t come off well, and has stated that he wanted out of Tennessee.
Recently, Vince sat down and spoke with Michael Smith for ESPN E:60 and though it’s not perfect, he speaks well about what he is dealing with in his life and what his focus is for the upcoming season. He emphatically states that he did not try or want to hurt himself. Watch an excerpt from the interview below:
More of the interview will air in late July on the E:60 season premier.
Because you can never watch it enough…

Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach has been very vocal lately that he thinks his quarterback Graham Harrell isn’t getting a fair shake from the media or NFL scouts. He stood up for Harrell at Heisman time and is now upset that his QB went undrafted this weekend. In the process of defending Harrell he took a hilarious shot at former Aggie and future Cowboy backup Stephen McGee: “I’m happy for Stephen McGee,” Mike Leach said. “The Dallas Cowboys like him more than his coaches at A&M did.”
Ouch.
Cowboys fans should be excited they’re getting a quarterback who couldn’t even start for his college team, just like Dallas legend Quincy Carter. Plus, he’s a jerk:
McGee actually isn’t terrible and was done in by horrible coaching and mediocre teammates at A&M, maybe he’ll have better success with a poorly run NFL franchise. Dennis Franchione tried to make into an option QB for no reason and then current head coach Mike Sherman decided the team’s future was more important than McGee’s. With good coaching, McGee has the talent to become a decent backup in the league, hopefully he gets an attitude adjustment as well.

ESPN The Magazine scours the depths of YouTube and ranks the top Kevin Durant clips on the Internet, they chose a good one for number one. Check out “Kevin Durant Evolution”:
“The Legend” is actually a pretty good basketball player, but up against a real college player he wasn’t much of a match last weekend during Michael Huff’s celebrity basketball game. After a wheels off loose ball, UT-Arlington’s Marquez Haynes took a pass and dunked right in Roy Williams’ face. Watch below:
Roy does a good job bailing at the last minute to not get too embarrassed (or hurt) and it’s hilarious watching Roy’s former teammates [tag]Michael Huff[/tag] and [tag]BJ Johnson[/tag]. Great to see the ex-teammates are still having fun and doing for a good cause.
Future Longhorn track star and possible slot receiver [tag]Marquise Goodwin[/tag] won this week’s 100m at Texas Relays with a blazing fast 10.38 time. Watch the race below:
