On the heels of winning the Diet Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year award at the Super Bowl, [tag]Vince Young[/tag] has just been named to his first Pro Bowl (as a Rookie!), replacing Philip Rivers who could not go because of an injury.
Actually, VY was the second alternate behind Tom Brady, who probably withdrew because he was mad he wasn’t selected initially. As a player, you probably don’t want to go as an alternate, but I see this as only the first of many Pro Bowls to come for Vince Young.
So congrats to VY on a great season and getting rewarded for it. He deserves it.
Cedric Benson is making the best of splitting carries with Thomas Jones and doing a better job not saying anything stupid.

I know you have been eagerly waiting our expert opinions (yeah right) on who will win and who will cover in Super Bowl XLI.
I think this is actually a pretty interesting match-up, with Peyton’s offense going up against the great Bear’s defense. I think for the Bear’s to win they need to jump out to a fast start. With their offense, I really don’t see them being able to come back against the Colts. The Colts have proven they can recover from a slow start with their win against the Patriots, where they were down by 18 in the first half.
I see a close game in the first half with the Colts pulling away in the end. Feel free to add your own predictions.

Rivals and other recruiting sites are reporting that Gilmer offensive lineman [tag]David Snow[/tag] is the Longhorns’ first 2008 commitment. Snow has been a heavy Texas lean for a long time and he couldn’t even wait till Texas’ first Junior Day on February 11th to give Mack Brown and Mac McWhorter his pledge. Nothing official yet from David or the Gilmer coaching staff but it sounds like this one is pretty much a done deal.
Not many official rankings out yet for 2008 recruits but Snow is one of the top players in the state of Texas and likely one of the nation’s top offensive lineman. With Tray Allen and the rest of the “class of beef” last year and several other big time targets this year, the Longhorns are building an incredible foundation up front. Future offensive skill position guys have to love the thought playing behind all that talent on the offensive line.
The Dolphins’ coaching staff will decide on whether they want Ricky Williams to return.
Vasher’s mom has to prepare for the Super Bowl too. Man, I had no idea, hopefully she can watch the game ok.

We were honored to find out yesterday that we had won the Brady Quinn Award, given out to the best looking college football blog. Well, we figured, why stop there? Why not try to win the award for the best looking college basketball blog (not sure if it exists though)?
So we have been burning the midnight oil to come up with what we think is a kick-ass basketball theme for Bevo Sports. Honestly, so far I am really digging the new look. I think I might even like it better than the football edition.
So let me know what you think. Good, bad, or whatever. Want to see what the football one looks like in all its glory? Check it out here.
The Texas football spring schedule is set and Longhorn fans will have several opportunities to see the team in action. The team’s first two practices and the “Spring Jamboree” will be open to the public.
Fans can attend workouts on February 23rd and 24th if they want an early chance to see the 2007 Texas Longhrorns in person. The annual spring game will take place on March 31st at noon, probably on Fox Sports.
More details on spring practice coming soon. Keep up with the spring schedule and more on the Texas Longhorn Sports Calendar.
Richard Justice is either joking or smoking something, he thinks A&M has passed Texas in football.
What is the Brady Quinn Award you ask? It’s an award for the best looking college football blog in the whole entire world.
We felt honored just to be nominated, so winning is definitely a cool thing. I just hope people don’t consider us as over-rated as Brady Quinn and Notre Dame. That would suck.
So thanks to everyone out there who voted for us, and we promise to continue to add some exciting new features here at Bevo Sports.
