The game today against Kansas is the last home game of the season and on Monday the university will begin minor renovations on DKR – Texas Memorial Stadium. These are just improvements to the west side of the stadium, adding 432 club seats and improving sight lines as well. The construction should be completed by the beginning of next season.
The more interesting news is that it looks like the major upgrades to the north end zone might be approved by February. They’re planning on adding 8,000 seats by closing off that side with an upper deck and moving it closer to the field as well. Might be done by 2008 or 2009.
Once that is completed they’ll be halfway done towards increasing seating capacity to above 100,000 and closing off the entire stadium as is pictured in the stadium model that has been floating around the Internet for a long time now. Would definitely make DKR an even tougher place for opponents to play.
Looks like Texas & USC in the Rose, who might the other BCS bowls pick and why?

Thankfully last weekend Miami shut everyone up about Virginia Tech and exposed just how weak their offense really is. There are some pretty good matchups this week with LSU playing at Alabama and Auburn traveling to Georgia. Hopefully LSU can take care of Alabama so we don’t have to hear anymore about the SEC, blah, blah. Texas is 34 point favorites against Kansas, and the way Vince has been talking I think they might actually cover that number. I am looking for a 45-10 victory.
Here’s our picks for this week:

Derke was having doubts about what his role at UT would be with the great success of the young running backs in school and the other commits from this year and chose to take a visit to Arizona. The Longhorn coaching staff warned him beforehand but he decided it was worth the chance. He took his visit and when he returned the coaches informed him that he no longer had a scholarship offer to attend and play football at the University of Texas.
Robinson is definitely a top flight running back and will probably have a lot of success for the Wildcats, but I think Longhorn fans had a good feeling that with Jamaal Charles exploding onto the scene this year that it was unlikely we’d make it to February with all three 4-star running backs. Though they’re close in ability and potential, Robinson was the lowest ranked out of him, Emmanuel Moody, and Vondrell McGee and was probably the most likely one to end up at a different position. Moody out of Coppel is probably the headliner of the group, as Rivals has him as the state’s top back and he’s right on the verge of being a 5-star player.
Of course the one recruit I’m able to go see in person and even put up a photo gallery ends up not coming to Texas.
35-1 is not bad at all. Better odds that I thought.
KU sure talks a lot for 34 point underdogs.

Austin easily #1. The conference has some good campuses, but most of the cities suck.
