Great article on the James, Durant, and the “Runnin’ Horns.”
Kenn Kasparek & Hunter Harris lead Horns in 4 – 0 win over Texas Tech.
At 76, he claims he can leg press 2,000 pounds. Might make a great DT.
Nacogdoches 5-star forward [tag]Damion James[/tag] has surprised most people and decided to play next season for the Texas Longhorns. James was granted his release for the University of Oklahoma this month after coach Kelvin Sampson left (amid scandal) for Indiana. Most people guessed that James would sign with Texas A&M with the Longhorns already have Kevin Durant signed to play the SF/PF role James most likely would fill. Some people even claimed James to the Aggies was a done deal, but after a weekend visit to Austin Damion announced Monday that he would play for Rick Barnes’ Texas Longhorns.
James is a 6-foot-8 top ranked combo forward who will make an immediate impact for the Longhorns. He already has a developed inside game, runs the court extremely well, and can hit the occasional three pointer. Likely a day one starter next season.
Possible 2006 lineup
Looks like the Longhorns will be very young and very athletic. Tons of inexperience to start the year, but also a ton of upside. Here’s my guess at the Longhorns starting five:
PG: DJ Augustin/AJ Abrams
SG: Justin Mason/AJ Abrams
SF: Kevin Durant/Damion James
PF: Damion James/Matt Hill
C: Connor Atchley/Dexter Pittman
Barnes has a lot of options for his lineup, he could even send out a three guard, two forward group that could run all night. Center is the definite weak spot, can the Longhorns get solid minutes on the defensive end from Connor Atchley? Is Dexter Pittman physically ready to play as a freshman? One thing is for certain, players will bring youth and excitement to the Erwin Center in November.
I’m always weary of a guy like Tyrus Thomas who rockets up draft charts based on two weeks.
Don’t like that EA chose USC’s Reggie Bush for the cover, then make your pick from over 150 covers courtesy of Fanblogs.com. A ton of schools are represented, with players you know as well as guys you’ve never heard of have their own covers. No great Longhorn ones yet, but a couple of Vince Young and one of Jamaal Charles to choose from. There will probably be more created as we get closer to the release date.
Only two more months till the game’s released on July 18th.
Part of baseball is cheating just a little so that you’ve got the edge over your opponent. Doctoring the baseball, tipping pitches, shooting up with HGH till your head is the size of a beach ball, you know that kind of stuff. Well [tag]Arkansas[/tag] Razorbacks catcher Brian Walker attempts to win the Oscar for best actor and comes away with MTV’s “Best Villian” instead when he pretends to be hit by a pitch:
Wow, low class. It’s one thing to fake being hit, it’s another completely to show up and threaten the umpire who got the call right. What kind of lunatic acts like that when you clearly weren’t hit? His elbow sure didn’t look bruised when he chunked the bat and helmet in a hissy fit. They repeatedly pulled similar stunts when they were in Austin for the Regionals last year.
I hope the Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn disciplined the kid for this, although it’s probably sanctioned behavior. Dirty play like this is why I’ve no interest in playing them anymore.

One year deal making sure Ricky can come back to the Dolphins next year.
Sales of Vince Young Titans’ jersey are going strong.*
