Our Thoughts

Brian – Leak didn’t do poorly, but he also didn’t impress in his first game against a top notch opponent (Tennessee) so he falls this week. He’ll have to do a little bit more this weekend if he wants to stay on my list. Leinart looked very good against the piggies and if he plays that well against Oregon this weekend he’ll probably vault Bush on my list regardless of what he does. Like it or not, the Heisman has become a quarterback award and Bush will really have to earn it if he wants to beat out Young and Leinart.

Matt – Leinart and Bush looked very dominate and put up some impressive numbers, but that was against Arkansas, so I feel you have to take all of that with a grain of salt. I still think the trophy is Vince’s to lose. I moved Maroney up because basically, that guy is just sick. He added another 200 total yards and 3 touchdowns in the first half of last weeks game. He will be good in the NFL.

Our Thoughts

Brian – I think the biggest news this week is the two teams dropping like rocks, Notre Dame and Oklahoma. Notre Dame looked like the average football team I thought they were, they made a gutsy comeback at the end of the game but it was almost a blow out in their own stadium. they’re well coached and showed a lot of heart, but they’re just not a very good football team. It’s a travesty that they’re still ahead of Michigan State in both the AP and USA Today polls.

Speaking of not good football teams, OU is really bad. They lost to a decent but middle of the pack Pac 10 team in UCLA. No wait, they didn’t lose, they got throttled. I knew they had offensive line problems and that Rhett Bomar is looking really shaky so far, but their defense is pretty average too. They’re going to have to get a lot better if they don’t want to lose 3 or 4 more games this season.

Matt – I swear, college football is the greatest sport ever known to man. The atmosphere surrounding the college game is like no other. This week we had a huge SEC battle with Tennessee traveling to Florida. What a game. However, It is a shame that it was partially decided by such a dumb move by the punter.

Texas proved again how dominate they are, with Jamaal Charles running for 171 yards and 3 touchdowns, in the first half! And on the other end of the spectrum, OU should how awful they are, getting man-handled by UCLA. I did some minor shifting in my poll, but I am still leaving Texas at the #1 spot (USC only won by 53, that is weak). Hook ’em.
