Augie Garrido and the Horns met Texas fans’ high expectations.
The WNBA has finally decided to come to an end and let Game 2 of the College World Series Championship Series get under way.
First inning
Kyle McCulloch is having a bit of trouble getting his fastball into the zone. Struck out the first two batters but he’s overthrowing his fastball a little bit and its tailing out of the strike zone.
Umpire seems to have a pretty small zone so far today, not giving much space off the corner. McCulloch got a little more of the plate on that one and strikes out the side in the first.
How do you figure Texas has more pressure? Florida is the seeded team and the team facing elimination with their number 3 starter on the mound.
Seth Johnston rakes one to left field but the ball looked like it might be caught for a moment and Nick Peoples has to hold at third. First and third with one out and the middle of the order up.
Will Crouch grounds into inning ending double play and Texas doesn’t score. ESPN’s announcers made it sound like a great play by Florida’s middle infielders but I think it was more of a case of Crouch being really slow. It was a good play, but the throw beat him by a step and a half. After one inning we’re still scoreless.
Adrian Alaniz in the same company as Roger Clemens and Huston Street?
Texas is right at home in Omaha and Dennis Dodd claims they’re sure to win their 6th title soon.
First game in a best-of-three championship series between the Texas Longhorns and the Florida Gators. Longhorns have an extra day of rest and have been able to set up their rotation how they want it. On the other side of things, Florida is going with a freshman pitcher who hasn’t worked since May 25th.
First inning
Longhorns ahead early again. Centerfielder took a misstep and then had no prayer catching a liner off the bat of Will Crouch. Nick Peoples, who walked to lead-off the game, scored easily on the play. Make the freshman throw strikes and jump on him early and he might not be around long.
Horns’ defense a little shaky but they use a double play to get out of the inning quickly. They lead after one, 1 – 0.
How the age limit will affect the 2006 and 2007 drafts, as well as the Horns and Kevin Durant.

Horns are in great shape in their bracket of the College World Series.
The NBA and the players’ association are close to an agreement that would institute a new 19-year-old age limit, meaning Kevin Durant will spend at least one year at Texas.
Not going to be posting as thoroughly as during the Baylor game because I’m working on about a thousand things (including a redesign of this site), but I’ll be updating with my thoughts on the game as they happen.
FYI, the game is on ESPN again or you can follow it online at NCAASports.com.
First inning
Great start to the game for the Longhorns. Really hitting the ball well. Close play at the plate and a great slide by Nick Peoples really got the bats going. Couldn’t really tell on the replay if Will Crouch ran through a stop sign or not but he was thrown out by a mile. With the way they were knocking the ball and the hot Chance Wheeless coming up it was definitely a bad decision by somebody.
Astros’ first round pick Brian Bogusevic has started off rusty again, he got shelled by Rice in the Super Regionals last weekend. I think if I was 6’3″ and left-handed, I could’ve made it to the Majors blind folded.
Texas again leads 2 – 0 after the first.
