Vince Young says the team needs more unity… “This team right here has all the talent in the world. They just need to pull together.”
Does Texas need to find a mean streak to beat Oklahoma? Definitely need to find some way to focus and find more consistency.
Not that anyone wants to relive yesterday’s game, but ESPN’s highlights of the loss to [tag]Kansas State[/tag] are posted below if you’ve got the stomach for it:
It makes it even worse to know how close we were to taking the thing back over at the end of the first half and again in the third quarter. The kick and punt returns for touchdowns just absolutely killed any momentum and fire the team was able to muster. Every time the team (and me at home on the couch) thought we were back in it KState would do something to rip out our hearts again.
Just to help me back away from the ledge a little, videos of Florida, West Virginia, and of course Oklahoma getting upset this weekend are posted after the jump.
Former Longhorn [tag]Roy Williams[/tag] really knows how to treat the ladies. He’ll treat you to a Big Mac or if you’re a truly special woman maybe some Red Lobster.
On being cheap: I am cheap, I’m a cheap date. Get you some McDonalds, with some cheese on it and I’m just really cheap, man. I’m very low key, I like to stay home. I like to go bowling on Monday nights and I go to the casino every once and awhile. Other than that, you won’t see Mr. Williams out at all.
You do tip the pizza guy? There’s no such thing as a tip. But I am really polite and I say ‘Thank you sir.’ … The pizza man knows, when he comes to my address, he’s coming for free.
If you’re on a date and she wants to go to a nice place, what do you do? I might just take her to the casino and get her a free buffet. If I did take a date out to a nice place, I’d take her to a nice place, like a Red Lobster or something. It wouldn’t be Morton’s or nothing like that.
I love Roy. Most people don’t get him but the guy is just a character. There’s actually people on the Detroit Free Press that are taking his comments seriously. Lions fans are morons. Apparently they’re too dense to catch on even when he called Red Lobster a fancy place.

Not sure what to even think about this one, but the San Antonio Express-News is reporting that Texas A&M Coach Dennis Franchione had been selling inside information about his team to select boosters. This “secret” newsletter, called the “VIP Connection,” was available to these boosters for the hefty price of $1200 / year. Apparently detailed information about players’ injury status was made available, something Coach Fran usually keeps under wraps. Sounds like a sports gambler’s dream to me.
The Aggy athletic director Bill Byrne said that he was not aware of the newsletter (yeah right), and the money from the newsletter supposedly went to finance his personal website, coachfran.com. I don’t know about you, but if I was getting that kind of money solely for my website, my site would look quite a bit better than Coach Fran’s.
Yet another black mark on what is turning out to be some rough times for Coach Fran’s reign in Aggyland. The funny thing about all of this? If A&M was actually winning games, this probably wouldn’t even be a big deal.

Not really anything interesting going on this weekend in college football, with only one match-up between two ranked teams. Probably one of the better games to watch is happening tonight, with the over-rated West Virgina facing off against South Florida. Anyone else notice the Bulls use the same hand signal as us? Copiers.
Baylor at Texas A&M – 11:30am on Versus. What’s funny about this match-up is that on the radio Aggy faithful were talking about it being a big game in the season. My thoughts, anytime Baylor is a “big game”, you have reached a sad day in your program.
Kansas State at (7) Texas – 2:30pm on ABC. Revenge game for the first second loss last season. Texas has started this season off a little slow, but things are getting back on track. Texas needs to make a statement in this game in order to carry some momentum going into the match-up against OU.
(6) California at (11) Oregon – 2:30pm on ABC. Talk about some high powered offenses. This game might end up looking like the Texas Tech / OSU game last weekend. I am thinking Oregon will pull the upset off in this one.
Auburn at (4) Florida – 7:00pm on ESPN. Definitely not as much hype in this match-up as last year, but when these two teams play you know it will be a good game. Auburn could get their program back on track with another win against Florida.
Chris Stewart transferring from Notre Dame. He was interested in Texas during recruiting, with OL depth issues might be worth a shot.
Jamaal Charles’ brother ShanDerrick was a running back for SMU before injuries ended his career. JC is trying to carry on his legacy.
Little brother of [tag]Tony Hills[/tag] and future Longhorn running back [tag]Jeremy Hills[/tag] is a four star recruit and is somehow still flying under the radar of most Longhorn fans. He’s got the pedigree and, from the video I’ve seen, the talent to be a big time running back for the Horns. Check out the video below:
Don’t forget that these highlights are only from one game and aren’t a normal highlight reel. The run he had with about 1:30 left in the video where he jumps over a guy then cuts on a dime is pretty sick. Jeremy rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns in the 35-21 loss to Houston Westside.
Fran sucks and finally Aggies know it. Just weeks ago delusional Aggies were thinking national title. Ha.
