Mangino

Yes, you are reading that right. This is an actual headline to an actual story that KUSports.com is currently running on their site.

I would assume Coach Mangino knows that he is more than a little overweight, but if I were him I might be a little upset that my own school website is making fun of me. I truly hope that editor had permission to run with that image.

Vick 'em

As you know from reading this site, we like to talk trash just as much as the next fan. But I think Texas Tech fans might have gone a little too far with this one.

It has been reported that a student at Texas Tech has designed a t-shirt that says “Vick ’em” on the front, and the back shows an image of a football player (Vick) hanging Reveille. While I guess you could call this “clever”, it will no doubt cause an uproar in the public.

I am thinking this won’t help with the perception that Tech has a bunch of classless fans. It’s also kind of funny that this comes just a few months after Texas Tech announced Raider Power, a campaign the university start to help promote “Honor, Respect, Pride, Tradition.”

Limas Sweed

In some sad news, it looks like [tag]Limas Sweed[/tag] will undergo wrist surgery, effectively ending his season and career at Texas. After evaluating Sweed’s wrist after the game, the medical staff decided that Sweed was just in too much pain to continue playing football.

“We’ve been very fortunate to have Limas for the past four years,” Brown said. “He’s made a lot of great plays and had a record-setting career at Texas. Limas is a fine young man who has been a tremendous representative of our program on and off the field. We appreciate everything he did to try to help the team this year, but since he is in such intense pain, he cannot continue to play. He will stay involved helping us and supporting the team even though he won’t be able to play, but since he keeps re-aggravating this injury, it’s important that he gets it fixed because he has a bright future in the NFL.”

I wonder, if Texas was 6-0 and not 4-2, would the recommendation from the medical staff be a little different. I am not trying to say that Sweed’s injury is not serious, but winning sure can make things feel better.

History says Horns can rebound. Texas has won at least nine games the last four times they started 4 – 2.

Upcoming opponents offer Texas chance to be 2-2 in Big 12. Iowa State and Baylor should mean two conference wins.

It’s never easy to lose to [tag]Oklahoma[/tag] but the Horns played their best game of the season and gave some hope that the all is not lost. ESPN’s highlights are below:

Tough loss to stomach made even tougher when USC and other top teams fell Saturday. Texas is clearly down this season but if they could have found a way to eek out a win against the Sooners they would have been right in the thick of things. Now with two Big 12 losses the Horns can’t afford to lose another game this year if they have any hopes of a conference title or major bowl appearance.

OU Sucks

Well there definitely isn’t as much fanfare going into the Red River Rivalry this weekend with both teams losing last week, but that doesn’t mean we still can’t start some of the trash talking between the schools.

Chance McClain from Sports Radio 610 down in Houston The Houston Chronicle hooked us up last year with some nice OU suckage songs from his band Apollo XVIII. So here are the songs, None Suck Better and OU Sucks. Both equally great. The lyrics to None Suck Better are available after the jump.
