Ramonce TaylorRamonce Taylor. Surprised to hear his name? Yeah, me too. But according to the ESPN Bottomline, [tag]Ramonce Taylor[/tag] has indeed decided to forgo his last two seasons of eligibility to enter the 2007 NFL Draft.

Is it just me, or does getting arrested for marijuana possession and then missing a whole year at Texas College due to academic eligibility not seem like what NFL scouts are looking for? Ramonce definitely has the athletic talent to play at the next level, I just hope that he can keep his head on his shoulders and forget about the past.

Vince Young

The Associated Press announced today that Vince Young has received the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award in a land-slide victory. [tag]Vince Young[/tag] received 23 out of 50 possible votes, with the next closest being 9 for Marques Colston and Maurice Drew. And guess who rounded out the vote at the bottom? That’s right, Reggie Bush.

Overall I think you have to be impressed with the quick transition VY is making in the pros. Many people doubted him, but Texas fans have known what everyone else is starting to learn about him. He is just a winner, plain and simple. It doesn’t matter what level is playing on, he will get the job done.

So a big congrats to VY from Bevo Sports and we look forward to more good things to come.

Not that there was any question what the greatest sports moment in 2006 was, but ESPN has made it official. Vince Young’s performance in the Rose Bowl and the Longhorns beating USC was ranked #1 by ESPN as the greatest sports story of 2006.

And to top it off, [tag]Vince Young[/tag] got yet another cover of a magazine, the latest issue of ESPN the Magazine.

Vince Young, ESPN Cover

What is with all of this love by ESPN for Vince lately? The upper execs can’t be too happy about this. I expect them to return to normal West Coast love soon.

Update: Looks like Yahoo agrees that the Rose Bowl was the best sports story. But take a look at #5, I am pretty sure it is now a bigger deal that the Texans didn’t draft VY, not Reggie.

Vince Young ESPN Special

ESPN.com has a pretty cool special called “The Education of Vince Young” up right now featuring a good article from Michael Smith, a photo gallery with twelve great high-res photos, and a short video from Sean Salisbury. Photos look great and there’s some shots in there that might make for great desktop wallpapers. Salisbury is very complimentary of Vince and especially his intangibles.

Vince is also on the cover of this week’s ESPN The Magazine so he’s definitely starting to get the love from ESPN (the moron Merril Hoge excluded of course.)
