Sooners like to cheatWith the latest Oklahoma penalties coming down from the NCAA, CBS Sportsline ranked the top ten cheatingest™ programs of all time and the Big 12 is well represented. Our good friends the Sooners can’t quite top the list and fall in at number 3.

Even funnier, though the Aggies fall in at number 8 on this list they’re the school worst at cheating.

8. Texas A&M. The state of Texas, football and rules violations go together like ham, egg and cheese. Might deserve a higher slot, but the Aggies’ cheat-to-win ratio is low. In other words, it hasn’t been money well spent.

So essentially the Aggies are one of the NCAA’s worst cheaters and they still suck. If you’re going to do something, at least do it up like Bob Stoops and the Sooners and get a few national championships out of the deal. At least it looks like Dennis Franchione may have the Aggies back to their cheating and losing ways. Good job guys.

Matt Leinart is still whining about losing to Texas in the 2006 Rose Bowl, but now it’s actually kind of amusing in a pretty decent new commercial for NCAA Football ’08 from EA Sports:

They could have rewritten the ending of the game a little more realistically, instead of Leinart suddenly becoming a scrambling dynamo. Or for ultimate accuracy, they could have shown him quietly sobbing on the sideline.

This is actually part of a series of commercials for the game with players talking about how they’d rewrite history. Others include Texas beating Oklahoma in 2004 (haven’t seen that one yet) and OU stuffing Boise State’s Statue of Liberty play to win the Fiesta Bowl. NCAA Football ’08 will be in stores on July 17th for current and next-gen game systems.

Sobbing Sooners

The NCAA has ruled that the Oklahoma Sooners must “vacate” all of their wins during the 2005 season, including their bowl win against Oregon in the Holiday Bowl. Not that it really matters all that much, they only won 8 games anyway.

The funny part about this is the fact that the NCAA thinks they actually hurt the Sooners, when all they did was extend their probation, cut their scholarships by two, and forfeit a season the Sooners didn’t even care about. Way to be tough NCAA.
