It wasn’t easy and it wasn’t pretty, but the Longhorns came back from down 14 and then barely held on in the final minutes to knock off [tag]Nebraska[/tag] 28 – 25. The victory takes the Horns to 7 – 2 on the season and puts them back in the discussion for a Big 12 title shot. The game wasn’t sealed until Texas was (finally) able to recover an onside kick and pick up a critical first down that allowed them to run off the last two minutes from the clock.

ESPN highlights of the game are below:

[tag]Jamaal Charles[/tag] had the biggest game of his career with 290 rushing yards, with a whopping 216 of those coming in the fourth quarter including three long touchdown runs. His big day took him over the 1,000 yard mark for the season.

The game will be re-aired by ESPN Classic on Sunday morning at 8 a.m.

An incredible video of future Longhorn [tag]DeSean Hales[/tag] of Klein Oak breaking off a ridiculous 71-yard touchdown run against Klein Forest from last night.

Wow.

Hales has been recruited by everyone to be a wide receiver in college but after seeing that maybe he needs a shot at running back. Somehow you have to get the ball in his hands in open spaces and give him a chance to make plays. I’m not sure Texas has had a receiver that could make plays like that in a long, long time.

Great NBC/Notre Dame commercial parody from Saturday Night Live (courtesy of With Leather):

I’ve got to add SNL to my DVR, I haven’t watched it in years but there’s more and more funny clips from the show lately. I wonder what kind of ratings NBC is getting on Notre Dame games this season. I can’t imagine they’re recouping their investment, though I certainly have tuned in to enjoy a little schadenfreude at Charlie Weis and the Irish’s expense.

Ross the Intern (Jay Leno) goes to the Red River Shootout. Not super funny but decent to see some video from around the game and State Fair.

I mentioned FSN’s “wonderful” announcing and overall presentation repeatedly during Saturday’s live blog of the [tag]Iowa State[/tag] game. They missed plays, butchered names, and were just generally awful, but the most awkward moment of the day came courtesy of color man Dave Lapham. He was confused most of the game but he found some clarity when he went nuts and repeatedly says that Texas safety [tag]Erick Jackson[/tag] “face rapes” ISU receiver Todd Blythe.

The great site Awful Announcing found video of the comment and it’s embedded below for your enjoyment/bewilderment:

There’s some comments over at AA with people claiming he said “face raking” but on the live broadcast it was pretty clear what he said. Plus he said it again in about 30 seconds. Awkward.

It’s never easy to lose to [tag]Oklahoma[/tag] but the Horns played their best game of the season and gave some hope that the all is not lost. ESPN’s highlights are below:

Tough loss to stomach made even tougher when USC and other top teams fell Saturday. Texas is clearly down this season but if they could have found a way to eek out a win against the Sooners they would have been right in the thick of things. Now with two Big 12 losses the Horns can’t afford to lose another game this year if they have any hopes of a conference title or major bowl appearance.

Not that anyone wants to relive yesterday’s game, but ESPN’s highlights of the loss to [tag]Kansas State[/tag] are posted below if you’ve got the stomach for it:

It makes it even worse to know how close we were to taking the thing back over at the end of the first half and again in the third quarter. The kick and punt returns for touchdowns just absolutely killed any momentum and fire the team was able to muster. Every time the team (and me at home on the couch) thought we were back in it KState would do something to rip out our hearts again.

Just to help me back away from the ledge a little, videos of Florida, West Virginia, and of course Oklahoma getting upset this weekend are posted after the jump.

Little brother of [tag]Tony Hills[/tag] and future Longhorn running back [tag]Jeremy Hills[/tag] is a four star recruit and is somehow still flying under the radar of most Longhorn fans. He’s got the pedigree and, from the video I’ve seen, the talent to be a big time running back for the Horns. Check out the video below:

Don’t forget that these highlights are only from one game and aren’t a normal highlight reel. The run he had with about 1:30 left in the video where he jumps over a guy then cuts on a dime is pretty sick. Jeremy rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns in the 35-21 loss to Houston Westside.

In his first appearance on Monday Night Football [tag]Vince Young[/tag] and the Titans soundly beat the Saints 31 – 14 tonight. The Titans offense started off hot and Vince was sharp throwing the ball until he banged up him arm late in the first half. In the fourth quarter the defense took care of business and finished off the game.

Vince’s postgame interview is below:

I think it’s funny that Vince Young referred to himself as Vince Young more times than either reporter or linebacker Keith Bulluck did.

I missed the whole game (I’m still at work) but caught the game on Sirius Radio and Boomer Esiason was giving him a ton of love the entire game. Vince is definitely winning over the national media with his performances on the field. The AFC South is tough this year but the way Vince has them playing the Titans looks like they could make a run for the playoffs.

I don’t know what’s wrong with you guys, why can’t you just leave Coach Fran alone!!!

Amazing work. Incredibly funny stuff and nice job working in the shots at other Big 12 coaches, though I’m not sure which coach showers with his sister. The Tay Zonday/Chocolate Rain reference was also perfect. It’s rare to find an Aggie who doesn’t take themselves too seriously.

If you’ve been living under a bridge here’s the inspiration video from a Britney Spears fan (and Seth Green mocking him) who posted their deranged impassioned plea to America on YouTube.
