I am glad he wasn’t suspended. I don’t want any excuses from USC.

THE NIGHT OF THE ROSE BOWL
T’was the night of the Rose Bowl…and all through the land,
All the Longhorns were stirring, even the band.
The tickets were purchased for the game, room, and air…
In hopes that “Saint Vincent” would soon be there!!
The fans were tailgating from their truck beds,
While a vision of a championship danced in their heads.
And Bevo in his bridle, and me in my cap…
Had just popped a cold one before the first snap.
When out on the turf there arose such a clatter,
I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter!!
My eyes fixed on the tunnel, and the thundering herd;
The roar of the fight song; I sang every word!!
They ran to the end zone, and knelt to their maker…
Giving thanks for TEXAS, and the victory later!!
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear.
Coach Mack in his glory, “THE HEAD COACH OF THE YEAR”!
And our hero from Houston that I haven’t seen since;
I knew in a moment it must be “Saint Vince”!
More rapid than eagles his posse they came…
And he whistled and shouted and called them by name!
Now, THOMAS! Now, TAYLOR! Now, PITTMAN and SWEED!
On, CHARLES! On, GRIFFIN! ROSS, HUFF and McGEE!
To the top of the world for a championship crown!
Now dash away, dash away, to a TEXAS touchdown!
They fought with fury! They fought with might!
They fought like champions on this championship night!
Oh! The bombs they flew, and the holes blew open…
The Longhorns ran the ball just as we were hope’n.
The defense attacked, and oh, they played hard!
Stopping the Trojans, in their own back yard!
Mack’s eyes how they twinkled, his dimples, how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, the “crystal ball” he did carry!
He embraced his coaches, he embraced his team!
And “The Eyes of TEXAS” we all did sing
A season that will live forever in lore;
COME EARLY, WEAR ORANGE, STAY LATE, once more!
MERRY CHRISTMAS, TEXAS and HOOK ‘EM HORNS

I can’t tell you how pumped I am about going to the Rose Bowl. We will be hitting up Vegas a couple days before and after the game, which will be just enough time to place our bets on the Texas moneyline and then collect the winnings. It’s official now. See you there!
ESPN has decided to try and find out where the 2005 USC Trojan team fits in history, pitting them against the all-time Top 10 teams in college football. The funny thing is, they haven’t even proven that they are the best team THIS YEAR. And to make things even more ridiculous, they threw in the mediocre 2002 Ohio State team just to make sure that USC would win at least 1 matchup. Did Sean Salisbury come up with this crap or what?
Seriously though, where did all of this ESPN West Coast homerism come from? Did ESPN feel bad about only showing Reggie Bush highlights 12 hours a day during the Heisman race that now they feel they must kiss-ass to a USC team that hasn’t even won the National Championship yet? I can’t even comprehend what ESPN is thinking with this one.

Our Thoughts
Brian – It’s one thing if Reggie Bush wins the Heisman, while I think Vince Young deserves based on his entire season Bush definitely has made his case as well. What really pissed me off is that ESPN is predicting a blowout win for Bush. How could you go from 2nd on most people’s ballot to a landslide victory thanks to a big game against a WAC team? A big game that was only 3 weeks after Vince Young had an even better one against Oklahoma State.
Members of the sports media have the attention span of a 6 week old puppy.
Matt – If you look at the whole season Vince wins this award easy, but if you base your vote on one game Bush obviously gets it. Not much to say besides I am sick of seeing all of the Reggie Bush hype on ESPN. I honestly didn’t know there were that many West Coast homers out there. Reggie may win today, but on January 4th we will get to see who the real champion is. Hook ’em.

They will add 16,000 seats and undergo extensive remodeling. Texas and OU must sign long-term deals in order for this to happen.
Figured I would start this so other people could share their stories of not being able to get tickets either through the school or that joke of a TicketMaster release. I am sure I was with you and every other Texas/USC fan trying to buy 2 tickets out of a ridiculous allotment of 1,000 tickets from TicketMaster this morning at 10:00am. Is it just me or was it depressing how quickly those tickets sold?
So, I felt that I needed to secure tickets no matter what, especially because I have already setup my trip to Vegas and drive down to Pasadena. So what do I do? I check eBay of course. Hmm…$1000/ticket. Later. So I check Razor Gator. $637/ticket. Do-able, but it comes out to $700/ticket once you add all of their fees. So that is what we ended up doing. We got 6 tickets at $700/piece. Man, that sucks. But you gotta do what you gotta do.
So what happened with your ticket attempts?
Saying I “want to dominate” USC doesn’t really constitute talking trash IMO.

Our Thoughts
Brian – Vince Young definitely didn’t take advantage of his national stage on Friday, but I see no reason to move him from the top of the list. The national writers who claim he blew his chance and declared Reggie Bush, had made their decisions before last Friday. Where was Reggie’s huge game against Washington, Washington State, Cal, or Stanford? He’s allowed to have 4+ games that aren’t Heisman-caliber, but Vince can’t have one? I know we live in a “what have you done for me lately?” society, but if you look at each player’s complete body of work you’ll see Young has been more consistent, more impressive, and more important throughout the year.
Robert Hubbard? Who’s Robert Hubbard you ask? Well he had 146 yards (at 9.1 yards per carry) and 3 touchdowns for Nevada against Fresno State Saturday. If one 294 yards and 2 TD’s suddenly makes you the unanimous Heisman winner, then Hubbard’s performance should definitely earn him a trip to New York.
Matt – Looks like the top 4 of our Heisman ballots are pretty similar. I still feel that Vince Young is the top candidate, mainly because his past performance is really his only subpar game this year. And is it just me or are you tired of seeing Reggie Bush highlights during the middle of the week on SportsCenter? It is like they are bored and feel like, hey, why not promote Reggie Bush for no reason at all.
