Adrian Peterson’s dad was able to watch his son play in person today for the first time since he was 12 years old. It looks like it may have been the first and last time to see Adrian play for the [tag]Oklahoma[/tag] Sooners. With about six minutes to go in the game Peterson broke a 53 yard touchdown run and when he stretched for the end zone he landed awkwardly and broke his collarbone.
Peterson is an incredibly tough runner and yet at the same time he seems to a little fragile. I don’t know if he’s a player that is always going to be hurt, if it’s overuse, or just plain bad luck but he has spent much of his OU career banged up. There’s a slim chance he could be back in time for a bowl game but the chances of him returning to Oklahoma for his senior season are close to zero.
Despite his choice to attend OU, Peterson seems like a pretty decent kid who probably had every opportunity to follow down his father’s path but chose not to. A tough way for an incredible running back to end his career, but even with the injury he’s likely a top three NFL draft pick and destined for a great pro career.
Only the Sooners could come up with something as ridiculous as this.
Quick analysis of the Horns’ win over the Sooners.
So definitely not the same fanfare as we had for the Texas/Ohio State tailgate, but we still had a good time. And as you will see we were definitely looking forward to getting our hands on some corndogs. You can check out the rest of the photos in the gallery.
Update
More photos added to the gallery and a couple celebration videos added after the break…
Evenly played game, but Horns made the big plays.
Stats weren’t overwhelming but he played well under big time pressure.
Awwwwhhhh… Poor kid.
And what is with the announcer. “He probably ate one of those deep fried things, and it is backing up on him.” Not even sure what to say about that one.

Matt and I have begun a series of posts over at the Texas FanHouse looking at Saturday’s game between Texas and [tag]Oklahoma[/tag] at the State Fair of Texas. When two top teams face each other the individual match-ups can decide who wins or who loses.
Here’s the match-ups and which way we think they lean:
- OU Running Backs Vs. UT Linebackers: Edge – Oklahoma
- OU Offensive Line Vs. UT Defensive Line: Edge – Texas
- OU QB/WR/TE Vs. UT Secondary: Edge – Even
- OU Special Teams Vs. UT Special Teams: Edge – Texas
- OU Defensive Line Vs. UT Offensive Line: Edge – Texas
- OU Secondary Vs. UT QB/WR/TE: Edge – Texas
- OU Linebackers Vs. UT Running Backs: Edge – Texas

It doesn’t get much better than listening to some OU sucks songs during the week leading up to the [tag]Oklahoma[/tag] game. And Chance McClain from Sports Radio 610 down in Houston has hooked us up with some nice OU suckage songs from his band Apollo XVIII.
Some background on Apollo XVIII. Chance McClain and Frank Bullington comprise the band and both went to UT for a total of about 5 semesters. Chance went on an academic scholarship in the Plan II program and failed out spectacularly. Frank had equal success. But both of them left the 40 acres with our horns up, forever bleeding burnt orange. If you want to hear more of their stuff, check them out on MySpace.
So here are the songs, None Suck Better and OU Sucks. Both equally great. The lyrics to None Suck Better are available after the jump.
